In May 2025, a team of four military veterans travelled from London to the summit of Mount Everest and back in less than 7 days setting a new record. A feat that typically takes 8-10 weeks, redefining what is possible in high-altitude mountaineering.
The Goal:
Fortune favoured the brave when four elite special forces veterans embarked on a bold challenge – the first ever speed ascent of Mount Everest: from London to the summit and back in 7 days. This record-breaking expedition, known as Mission:Everest reached the summit on 21 May 2025, and by 23 May they had returned to London – completing their extraordinary challenge in 6 days and 16 hours. Along the way they battled an avalanche, treacherous terrain, extreme winds and cold which almost derailed their summit, a mission threatening illness on the way down, all while pushing their bodies beyond the limit. Their vision was daring: to set a new fastest known time in order to raise awareness and critical funding for veterans charities, particularly those supporting bereaved military children. This painting and prints were commissioned by One Thousand Trades Group in support of Mission:Everest’s cause.
Anthony Jefferson Hanson, known artistically as Ashenso_gh, is a Ghanaian painter celebrated for his vivid portraits and cultural storytelling. Born in Sekondi and now based in the United Kingdom, his work bridges African heritage with universal themes of resilience and identity.
A Takoradi Technical University graduate in Communication Design, Hanson moved to Accra in 2011 to begin his professional art career. His portfolio includes portraits of Ghana’s presidents, Idris Elba, and landmark works such as Mission:Everest and The King’s Portrait – a painting of His Majesty the King of England, presented by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the King’s coronation.
The Mission Everest fine art collection features an exclusive series of 13 wet-signed fine art prints, each personally signed by the four Everest veterans, all living Prime Ministers, the heads of each armed service, and the Chief of the Defence Staff. These rare collector’s pieces are complemented by a wider series of limited-edition reproductions, allowing supporters to own a part of this historic collaboration honouring courage, service, and sacrifice.

Art 4 Charity has relaunched its creative fundraising mission with a new project supporting Mission:Everest, building on the legacy of Gent 48’s celebrated Forward In Unity mural that captured Birmingham’s resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The latest project centres on a powerful new painting depicting the four veterans who successfully summited Mount Everest on 21 May 2025. The original artwork has been donated to the Mission:Everest cause, alongside the creation of a limited series of 13 wet fine art prints taken directly from the original. These exclusive pieces are complemented by a wider collection of limited-edition reproductions, allowing more supporters to own a piece of this historic moment.
Adding to the prestige, a special edition print has also been produced, signed by the four veterans themselves and the artist. All proceeds from the collection will go toward veterans, bereaved families, and associated charities, continuing Art 4 Charity’s mission to use art as a powerful force for unity, remembrance, and hope.
